Sabja/Basil seeds pudding - breakfast recipes

Sabja/basil seeds pudding -This breakfast recipe is a very simple & quick one, made of sabja(very popular seed in India, used in falooda). It is referred as Basil seeds in English. Combined with seasonal & fresh strawberry, muesli, honey. It is very satiating and has all natural sugars except little sugar that comes from strawberry jam. You must have heard of chia pudding, which is very popular abroad. But Chia seeds are expensive in India. A very suitable local alternative to Chia seeds is Basil seeds.

To highlight some of the health benefits -

Sabja/basil seed is very rich in fibre, proteins and omega-3 fatty acids. It acts as a coolant to the digestive system and especially good as summers are approaching. Combined with fresh seasonal fruits and milk add to the nutritional value. It is very good for weight loss, helps digestive system.

Important note - Avoid eating sabja if you have a surgery planned immediately or you are recovering from a surgery. Also avoid sabja if you are a diabetic and have a fresh wound to be healed. Because sabja can slow down the blood clotting process a little bit.

Do not consume more than 2 tbsp of sabja in 1 day (approx 13 to 16 gms). This much quantity is more than sufficient for your body in 1 day. So don't go overboard with it.

I made this today morning and did a quick recording to be shared with all. A very healthy breakfast recipe with low calories. And healthy does not mean it isn’t tasty. This one is actually quite tasty. :)

The best part is, it only takes 5 mins to assemble and get this dish ready. So this one is for all working professionals, moms who want to feed their kids with fruits, milk and all healthy nutrients in one dish. I am sure, if given a choice, my mom would have gone back in time and stuffed this one to me. At least she wouldn't have had to deal with a cranky child throwing all sorts of tantrums to evade milk. Maybe that made me curate this one for all the tiny tots. I empathize with every child who is made to drink milk :D.

So to all the moms, this one is a sure hit with your child and even for professionals who are just too busy and want something satiating, tasty, healthy and low-calorie.
