You would be wondering, as to why I have shared this recipe. Isn't it just simple and obvious!!!. But that is not what it is. The caption says out loud, THEY ARE BAKED. And that means very little oil being used. Just 2 to 3 tsp of oil. Doesn't it take away half the worry of eating fries. It surely does. And that is what made me share the french fries recipe. The combination of Olive oil, thyme and garlic brings out a very good flavour and a very different taste than your usual fries.
I made this 2 days back and had to share this recipe with all.
Super delicious & super simple. You have to try these!!!
Just 5 mins of preparation and you can bake in an oven or in a convection mode of your microwave. So lets get started...
Ingredients -
4 medium sized potatoes (chopped)
2 to 3 tsp Extra Virgin or Virgin Olive oil (Extra virgin or virgin olive oil brings out a strong flavour. Normal olive oil will get you that.)
6 to 7 garlic petals
4 tsp thyme herb (You can easily find this in any regular super market. It is available in dried form in a shaker jar. You can search it in the section where you find chilli flakes, Oregano, Basil in shaker jars in your supermarket.)
1 tsp of Red chilli powder (optional)
Rock salt ("Kalanamak" in Indian language) or sea salt
Preparation -
1. Cut the potatoes for making fries. Take them in a bowl.
2. Add 2 to 3 tsp of extra virgin olive oil to it.
3. Sprinkle about 4 tsp of thyme herb. No harm if you add a little extra as well.
3. Add 1 tsp of red chilli powder, garlic petals.
4. Mix everything together in a bowl.
5. Preheat the oven to 180⁰ C for about 5 mins.
6. Place the butter paper or baking paper in a baking tray and add the potatoes to the tray.(It is very important to place baking/butter paper else the potatoes would stick to the tray. Don't experiment with aluminium foil. That does not work either.)
7. Now add the potato slices in the baking tray and place the tray in the oven with both side heating.
8. Bake for about 15 mins at 200⁰ C. Take them out when they are nice golden brown. If you feel they are still soft even after 15 mins, you can bake them for an additional 10 mins till they turn golden brown.
9. They are ready to serve. Sprinkle some salt while eating.
Would love to hear from you on how you find my recipes.
